My friend has recently been going through a very difficult time as her mother has cancer and reading this chapter made me think to her: How she must be feeling in this moment in time. My favourite chapter was The Damsel as it made me cry with the discussion of one of my most hated enemies, Cancer. Yet that being said there were still some poems I enjoyed which I’d like to share with you. I wish Amanda wrote with more strength by adding more depth, curiosity and imagination by making her poetry more descriptive to the eye rather than making depleting short poems spaced out in a way that was seen as unnecessary at times. I gave this poetry book 3/5 stars as the poems didn’t leave me flabbergasted or amazed. Read with care and love for yourself and those around you by finding light in the darkest of places. Note: This book tackles heavy content such as suicide, eating disorders, abuse, cancer and more.
